Goodbye Shoes is a passion project that came out of the pink brains of Shawn Diaz and myself while sole searching for a way to spread creativity, community sustainability and fun.
Every Sole Deserves a Story
Shawn and I were thinking one day that it’s sorta sad people just toss their shoes in the trash once they’ve been worn out from running, walking, kicking, fitness or whatever the crazy kids do. As we looked at our old beat up kicks and thought about the miles, milestones, and memories from wandering through different places, we realized there had to be a better way to say goodbye—both figuratively and sustainably.
So, we created a shoe funeral service that honors the joys and jogs you shared. First we set up a photo obituary using simple propping, (and good lighting) showing off the torn tread and ripped tongues. Then, we recycle your shoes for you and you get to keep a digital photo keepsake of their shining last moment.
With Goodbye Shoes, the world has one less pair of shoes in the landfill, putting everyone at peace. Amen.
